STEP 1: LOAD THE TRAY

After brushing and flossing, load the tray by expressing small beads of gel centered on the facial side of the tray from molar to molar, one dot per tooth. The dots should be approximately this size on each tooth:

 

STEP 2: INSERT THE TRAY 

Insert the tray in your mouth and lightly tap it to adapt the sides to your teeth. Remove any excess gel with a Q-tip. Gel should not express onto the gum tissue – if gel is coming out of the tray, it means that too much gel was loaded into the trays.  Wear time depends on which concentration of Opalescence gel you use:

• Opalescence 10%: 8–10 hours or overnight

• Opalescence 15%: 4–6 hours

• Opalescence 20%: 2–4 hours

• Opalescence 35%: 30 minutes

• Opalescence Quick PF 45%: 15-30 minutes

 

STEP 3: REMOVE THE TRAY AND BRUSH YOUR TEETH 

Remove tray and use a soft toothbrush to clean any excess gel off your teeth. Rinse your mouth, being sure not to swallow the rinsed gel.

STEP 4: CLEAN THE TRAY

Clean tray with soft brush and cool water. Store tray in the case that came with your kit.

 

IMPORTANT/PLEASE NOTE: 

• For 24-48 hours after whitening, teeth are more porous and susceptible to staining. Try to eliminate or minimize the use of coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco, soda, or pigmented foods while whitening.

• If you experience sensitivity after whitening, use a desensitizing toothpaste along with whitening treatments and whiten every 2-3 days. If you experience significant sensitivity, stop your treatment and talk to your dentist. We may prescribe a stronger desensitizing gel.

• Crowns and existing fillings will not bleach

• Keep the gel away from heat or sunlight. Storing the gel in the refrigerator helps it last longer.

• Do not eat or use tobacco products with trays in your mouth

• After reaching your ideal shade, save any remaining whitening gel for future touch-ups.
