Pediatric Dental Care
No Guest Too Small!
The American Dental Association recommends that children see a dentist 6 months after their first tooth erupts. Starting dental care in early childhood builds a solid foundation for lifelong oral health by educating kids on how to take care of their teeth and helping them feel comfortable and confident at the dentist.
We know that going to the dentist can sometimes be scary for kids. By creating positive early experiences at the dentist, anxiety can be reduced or even prevented completely. We provide a calm, positive (sometimes even fun!) environment for kids.
We use multiple techniques to create a comfortable atmosphere at our office for kids.
o We use positive, kid-friendly terminology when talking about procedures and we avoid negative terminology. Negative words (for example, shot, hurt, pain, etc.) can trigger fear even before children visit the dentist. It helps to talk positively about dental visits before your children come in to help form a positive association and avoid anxiety.
o We start appointments by showing and explaining what we are going to do before we do anything, so kids know what to expect.
o We give children a signal for us to stop if they need a break – they just have to raise their hand. This control can greatly improve comfort during treatment and helps build trust.
We know you want the best for your kids, and our practice philosophy is to treat our patients the way we would want our family to be treated.
We strive to provide the best care possible and to create a comfortable environment for all of our patients – big and small!
